birthday treats
One week ago today, I was celebrating my birthday in Austin, TX. Instead of a birthday cake, I had a few unconventional treats.
Starting with a fried pickle.
And continuing with a trip to Bananarchy, a frozen banana stand that made all of my childhood “Arrested Development” dreams come true.
There are four dipping selections: chocolate, peanut butter, vanilla, and vegan chocolate. Plus eleven toppings to mix and match.
Their menu even includes the two-banana monstrosity that is The GOB.

If you’re already overwhelmed by the plethora of opportunity at your fingertips, you can thankfully order the revolutionary dessert by the halfsie.
My birthday cake: a fair-trade halfsie dipped in chocolate, drizzled in peanut butter, and topped with toffee.
Guests can also play with the stand’s set of Bananagrams.
*The above poetry was not a recreation, but was organically grown.

Happy belated birthday! I like “The Weepies” reference. I’m thinking of quitting my day job and opening up a Bananarchy, nice photos!
Bananagrams?!?! You didn’t mention that!! Now I have to go.
Hey great photos! Thanks for the generous write-up, and we’re glad we could make your birthday sweet and memorable. Come back and get more bananas from us!
so was i <3
oh my god. that sounds amazing. want want want. soooo much better than cake!!
To quote from one of our favorite arrested development characters, “how much can one banana cost? $10?”
Your banana photos make that price tag seem so reasonable! They look yummy!!
So wish I could have been there! Those bananas look amazing.
I watched a couple episodes of Arrested Development recently while cleaning and realized I really need to go. Come visit again! I found a great Thai trailer
i don’t know where all this yummy food is from, but you need to show me the spots in nyc!
