I recently had the pleasure of staying in the impeccably designed Liberty Hotel. And after dinner, I was happy to discover that its Lydia Shire-helmed restaurant Scampo was recommendation-worthy to locals and visitors alike.
Everything from the open kitchen to the deco art was designed with panache, including the typography on the menu. The fontophile in me was very appreciative.
Homemade breadsticks with pesto-fava bean puree.
We selected an interesting appetizer, primarily based on its interesting name: Elephant Ear Walking.
Crispy flatbread with fresh mozzarella, fried basil, and tomato sauce.
Robiola & beet ravioli with poppy seeds & drops of strawberry balsamico.
Another star of the evening came right before departure.
White chocolate strawberry cheesecake with homemade whipped cream.
Now, whipped cream is one of the few Foods I Despise. However, I may or may not have accidentally eaten some this time…

Why did the Elephant Ear cross the road? To get to the ivory side… ba dum shhh…
I love me some yellow beets.
How did the elephant clean his ear? By getting eaten up of course & then followed by ravioli & white chocolate strawberry cheesecake! Can you spell d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s? Too bad I can’t change this font!!
